HomeBlogFrom Grief to Strength: Dimple Chauhan’s London Marathon Mission

When life changes in an instant, we search for ways to keep going. For Dimple Chauhan, that moment came last year, when she lost her beloved mum to a sudden and devastating battle with asthma and lung disease. At just 64, her mother’s passing left a deep and aching void.

“My mum wasn’t just my mum — she was my best friend, my guide, my rock. There hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t missed her,” Dimple shares.

Now, a year on, Dimple has found a way to honour her mother’s memory while giving back to others facing similar struggles — by running the TCS London Marathon 2025 in support of Asthma + Lung UK.

A Deeply Personal Mission

We are incredibly proud to support Dimple, wife of our Managing Director, Jason Chauhan, as she takes on an inspiring personal challenge for a cause close to her heart. At JC Metalworks, we believe in supporting our people and their passions—especially when they use their strength and voice to make a real difference in the world. Dimple’s decision to run the London Marathon 2025 in memory of her late mother and in support of Asthma + Lung UK is a powerful reminder of the impact one person’s journey can have. As a company, we stand firmly behind her every step of the way. She won’t be running alone — her brother, Prakash Chavda, is also taking part in the marathon, running shoulder to shoulder with her in honour of their mum.

Their mother’s passing came suddenly and unexpectedly. What began as manageable asthma symptoms escalated, leading to severe lung complications that tragically took her life. In the months that followed, grief weighed heavily — but amidst that grief, Dimple felt a calling.

“I wanted to do something. I couldn’t save her, but I could run for her. I could fight for others in her name.”

This is not just a marathon — it’s a mission born from love and loss. Every step Dimple takes is for her mum and for the many families affected by asthma and lung disease every single day.

The London Marathon 2025

The TCS London Marathon 2025 will take place on Sunday, April 27th, 2025 — one of the most iconic marathon events in the world. Covering 26.2 miles through the heart of the capital, the route winds past London’s most famous landmarks including Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace. It’s not just a race — it’s a celebration of human spirit, resilience, and community.

Dimple will be one of over 50,000 participants taking part, each with their own story, strength, and purpose. For her, this isn’t just a race to the finish line — it’s a journey through grief, growth, and love.

The Road to the Marathon

Dimple’s marathon training journey began quietly, almost therapeutically. She started running short distances to clear her mind and cope with the overwhelming emotions of grief.

“At first, I could barely run a mile. I’d cry through most of it. But gradually, running became a place of strength — where I felt closer to her,” she says.

Over the past several months, her training has intensified. Early morning runs, weekend long distances, strength training, and recovery routines are now regular parts of her week. Balancing marathon prep with work, family life, and emotional healing has not been easy — but she’s been powered by purpose.

“There are days when I feel broken. But then I remember why I’m doing this. And I keep going.”

A Mother’s Legacy

At the heart of Dimple’s journey is her mum — a woman remembered for her warmth, humour, and unwavering strength. Her presence continues to guide and inspire Dimple with every stride.

“My mum lit up every room. She loved life, and she loved people. I hope that through this run, a piece of her light continues to shine.”

Support That Makes a Difference

Dimple is running to raise funds for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity dedicated to improving lung health for all. They fund critical research, offer patient support, and push for policies that protect people living with asthma and lung disease.

“Every pound donated helps fund lifesaving work. It means more people get the care my mum didn’t have time to receive,” Dimple says.

She’s asking for your support to help her reach her fundraising target — and to ensure no one else has to face this journey alone.
