Challenge
The client was facing challenges with outsourcing their metalwork from outside the UK, primarily due to various supply chain issues. As their business was growing rapidly, they were in search of a UK metalwork subcontractor to provide a consistent and reliable supply. After researching our capabilities and capacity, the client chose JC Metalworks. We ensured them of improved consistency, shorter lead times, and high-quality, cost-effective metal products. From the very beginning, there was a strong synergy between our businesses. We received the purchase order just after our first meeting, making it one of our quickest initial orders due to our rapid response.
Solution
Following the reverse engineering process, detailed manufacturing drawings were developed, and a sample was produced to meet the client’s exact specifications. An engineering evaluation identified opportunities for both cost and time savings, leading to several design optimizations in the value-engineered sample, which was subsequently approved by the client.
Concealed welds provided a superior and more refined finish.
Fewer welds minimised the need for linishing and improved production efficiency.
The number of parts was significantly reduced.
The final product achieved greater strength, stability, and durability.
Results
Over 5,500 units produced to date, reflecting the success and efficiency of the redesigned cabinet solution.
