Challenge
Before partnering with JC Metalworks, AF&RS was dissatisfied with their existing locker systems. The lockers lacked the desired aesthetic appeal and flexibility to meet the specific needs of their firefighters. Additionally, the existing solutions were not as durable or reliable as they required.
Solution
When Avon Fire & Rescue Service approached JC Metalworks, we were briefed about their requirements. We then worked closely with them to develop a customised locker design that met their functional and aesthetic preferences.
Design Considerations
- Size: The locker size was determined by Avon Fire & Rescue Service’s specific requirements.
- Shelves: The shelves for helmets and boots were designed with mesh and plastic coating to protect from excess water runoff.
- External features: A hook for the firefighter’s jacket was included on the outside, and a bench was attached to facilitate easy gear change.
- Internal features: Specific requirements for hooks and rails were incorporated to meet the firefighters’ needs.
- Locks: The lockers were equipped with locks that were easy to replace and included a master key for convenient management.
- Enhanced aesthetics: The lockers provide a modern and professional look that complements the fire stations’ overall environment.
